Tap Tempo - ONLY?
Hey everyone, I've been kicking around ideas for a compact delay pedal; something simple and small, and I was wondering if people would find it acceptable if it were tap tempo, only. I mean it wouldn't have a delay time knob, it would just have a button you tap the time in with. I'm imagining this in one of those tiny 1590A boxes with controls for Feedback and Mix, and the tap button.
I would also prefer to do it with a buffered tails bypass, because I think it sounds alot better to have the tails intact with a high quality buffer.
Any of this sound good? Any suggestions?

Hmmm that actually sounds like it could work pretty well. I would probably buy a delay pedal with tap tempo only

I had never thought about doing it that way before, but then I noticed that some amps seem to be doing it that way (Bogner Alchemist), and it seems to please work out alright.

I like fiddling with the delay time knob while playing, so it might not be something I would wrap my head around. BUT, if you made it that way with perhaps an ability for an external expression pedal to control the delay time on the side...........that would fucking rule. Seriously. Make my life so much easier.

But then it couldn't self oscillate.

If you threw an expression jack on it and some trim pots and it would be a sweet delay. But even a small tap tempo only delay would be cool to have to pair up with other delays.

The point of this thing is for it to be in one of those tiny boxes, so there really wouldn't be any room for extra jacks, etc... it's just an idea for something super-simple and tiny.
I could certainly see doing something with an MXR-size box that has tap tempo and an expression pedal jack.

That could be a Carbon Copy killer.

Re: Tap Tempo - ONLY?
tap tempo is always good. as long as it can be set before turning the effect on.. if you don't have a time knob though, how about some kind of subdivisions.. Quarter / Triplets / Dotted 8ths or any of those on a switch (like the Tech 21 Delay)?

i had the M13 for a while.. i can tap triplets ok, but i have no idea how to manually tap dotted 8ths... there's some tutorials on youtube that show you how to count and tap on the dotted 8th, but unelss you know the BPM of the song i guess it's pretty difficult

i didn't know if you could tap the tempo of the song then set the note symbol to dotted eighth.

unlike the hc 2.0 the m9 2.0 added some really cool updates while keeping the same format.
